Chillout Mountain Morzine

Morzine

Morzine really does have something for everyone.

At just 1 hour 15 mins from Geneva airport, Morzine is a popular and easily accessible resort for alpine and mountain enthusiasts. Straddling the picturesque River Dranse, traditional barns, and alpine chalets, noticeable by their slate roofs, nestle on the valley floor, at the foot of stunning, tree-lined descents. Skiers return directly into town, where a combination of bars and restaurants link with pavement cafés and local ski and craft shops creating the perfect alpine ambience.

Morzine has a huge range of facilities for skiers and non-skiers alike:

A cinema – showing English and French films
Indoor and outdoor ice-rinks
Indoor 25 metre pool (open in winter and summer)
Outdoor 50 metre pool (open in the summer)
3 supermarkets
Wednesday local market offering mountain specialities
Horse riding stables
Gym, massage and spa facilities
Lac du Montriond – a stunning mountain lake perfect for walking and snowshoeing trips

There are a host of additional activities to experience, from horse-drawn carriage rides, dog-sledding, parapenting, snow-mobiling, cross country skiing to just discovering the serenity of the mountains on snow-shoes or foot.

Skiing Info

Portes du Soleil

Morzine and its satellite villages are well-served by numerous ski lifts taking you directly up to the peaks from all ends of town, and a couple of lifts are accessed in town itself. The Pleney Express cable Car accesses the plateau that links into the Les Gets area and on the other side of town, the Super Morzine bubble links directly into Avoriaz, and the Swiss sector of the Portes du Soleil. In addition there is the Prodains Express cable car which speeds you up to the Avoriaz slopes in less than 4 minutes. A superb, free, interlinking bus service to all the lifts makes life very easy.

Whether a beginner or an expert, the scope of variety and choice means you can ski a different area every day and go your whole holiday without skiing the same area twice! Ski passes can be bought to reflect your ability. For example, the local area pass may be ample for a beginner and the full Portes du Soleil perfect for the ranging intermediate and beyond.

The winter landscape also offers a whole host of other activities which can add to your holiday experience. From dog-sledding to parapenting, ice-skating to snow-mobiling, or discovering the serenity of the mountains on snow-shoes. Some of the best, get-away from it all, alpine snow-shoe walks can also be found in the Morzine valley and its environs.

Ski Passes

There are 2 choices when deciding on which ski pass to buy for your weeks trip. The local area pass Morzine-Les Gets covers over 150km of slopes with a range of tree lined skiing and wide cruising blue runs as well as challenging reds in the Ranfolly area and some mogulled blacks in Chamossiere and Mont Chery sectors.

If you enjoy travelling and clocking up the kms on the pistes then the full Portes du Soleil pass is the one for you. It covers 12 resorts in 2 countries (France – Switzerland) and is still the largest linked ski area in Europe with over 650kms of skiing on 1 great value pass. The charming resorts of Champery, Champoussin and Morgins in Switzerland provide stunning back drops and beautifully groomed reds and blues, while the resort of Avoriaz is popular with snowboarders and provides some challenging long black runs in the Haut Forts sector as well as the infamous Swiss wall from the Chavanette region of Avoriaz down into Switzerland. In the other direction Chatel has something for everyone, with some fabulous off piste areas, steep reds and beautiful tree lined slopes for beginners.

Chalet Caché is beautiful with amazing views, homely lounge, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. Jude and Tracy met us with a very friendly warm welcome, which continued throughout our stay. All the food was fantastic with a varied menu each day which was freshly cooked and beautifully presented. We were very grateful for Jude taking us to and from the ski lifts each day. Both Jude and Tracy provided us with very useful information on Morzine which was a great help to us. Overall, we had a great memorable holiday and hope to return soon!
The Stapleton family – Feb 2023

We had a great stay in Chalet Cache which was a modern space with excellent views and conveniently located approximately 10 mins walk from the town centre. Jude and Tracy provided an amazing service throughout our stay, from the shuttle runs to/from the slopes in the mini bus to the superb catering throughout, nothing was too much trouble. They were both very accommodating and had helpful knowledge of Morzine and the local area. We would definitely love to return in the future.
Owen and Clive Jones – Jan 2023

We thoroughly had a lovely time at chalet Perdrix. Your chalet made us feel so homey and relaxed during our stay there. Gabby was amazing as well. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality and especially for helping out when we couldn’t get our cars up the icy path. Lesson learned: snow chains will not do next time.
Our warmest regards to you both!
Terri, Fergus & the kids – Feb 2019

We had a really fantastic time at chalet Perdrix last week. Lori and Joe were excellent and one of the things we especially liked was how laid back and ‘chilled out’ it was compared to other chalets we have stayed in.
Amy – Feb 2019

We had the most fantastic time – thank you. The chalet was quite beautiful and I am now back on a diet of soup and porridge! Gaby’s food was delicious and, as a horribly fussy eater, the tastiest and most beautifully presented I have ever had. And big thanks are due to Lori, especially for her kindness on our last day when we were homeless!

We definitely want to return again, indeed the “younger ones” have already discussed how much they need to save per month, starting straightaway!
Victoria – March 2019

Thank you both again for yet another fabulous stay. I think the overwhelming thought is we’d love to do it again next year if you’ll have us!
Sarah – March 2019

Our family have just returned from an amazing summer week staying in the fabulous Chalet Perdrix. Without doubt, this is the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Outstanding views, unbelievable space inside and out and beautifully decorated with high spec furnishings and equipment. You won’t want to leave (we didn’t!).We would love to experience this place in the Winter and have fallen in love with the resort in Morzine.
We stayed self catering and were met by Tracy on our arrival who showed us the ropes and gave us some really helpful info on the area.
We can’t wait to return. Thanks Tracy and Chillout Mountain.
The Wiggins family – Jul 2018

Wow…… we can’t thank you guys enough for such an amazing holiday.
It’s right up there in the carefully selected list of “Jones’ family best ever trips” …..so much so that we are planning our return visit already and we’ve only been back a week!
You are amazing hosts and your warmth and hospitality made the trip totally memorable! Unfortunately, it’s now diet time!!!
Missing you both!
The Jones’ Family – Apr 2018

Thank you to you both for such a wonderful few days in your gorgeous chalet.
We all thought it was the perfect place for us all, you both looked after us so incredibly well & Tracy, your dinners were totally delicious & Jude, your breakfasts too… especially the porridge which was discussed again at the airport!! Trying to work out how to make our own as good.
Thank you both so much, I’ve finally found my perfect Morzine chalet company!!…that’s saying something, as I’ve tried most of them.
Natalie & all the Girls – Mar 2018

Just wanted to say what a fantastic holiday you gave us!
Your hospitality, accommodation and personalities were out of this world. Especially big thanks for the beer, wine and fizzy juice fridge; the hot tub; the biggest bed I’ve ever been in; the 5 star food and your adaptions for Ruth’s Coeliac. We have all been bitten by the bug and will definitely return.
Thanks again for all your help, organisation and putting up with us, we are all privileged and honoured to have been in your company for a week and environment.
Richard, Alison, Ewan, Sean, Ruth and Greigory – Feb 2018

Thank you for such a fantastic week in your beautiful chalet. We had such an amazing time enjoying the excellent food and wine, hot tub and skiing – wishing we were back with you now!
Thank you for your fantastic hospitality during our stay and for making everything so easy and nothing was too much trouble.
Tracy thanks for all our excellent meals, I’ll definitely be trying to recreate some of them and for making perfect childrens meals and desserts.
We definitely hope to be back again and will definitely recommend you to all our friends.
Thanks so much again, it was really lovely to meet you and a joy to stay in your chalet.
Faye, Chris, Max and Toby x – 2017

We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip and thought that the Chalet and was lovely and felt very well cared for. The food was top notch, but if I had to, Tracy was best Chef for me!
Hopefully see you next year!
David, Carol and the motley crew xx – Feb 2017

Thanks so much for what might just have been the most relaxing holiday yet with Chillout Mountain! Everyone had a brilliant time and all sad to be home (with exception of Meg who is chuffed to be allowed back on Lara’s bed again – see attached!)
As mentioned we will most likely have our annual debate about whether we should add other mates to the skiing mix and/or try a new area but I have a feeling the outcome of discussions will be we want to come back – your holiday is just really hard to beat!
Lots of love from all the Baileys!
Rach xxx – 2017

Easily the Best place we have ever stayed (summer or winter). We stayed at Chalet Cache but have no doubt as to the quality of the other properties given the exceptionally high standard of Chalet Cache!
Tracy and Jude were the most wonderful hosts, friendly, attentive and caring. They were extremely accommodating to our needs – especially those of us who are fussy eaters! On that subject the food was out of this world, their one night off when we ate at a restaurant Tracy and Jude booked our table and organised our taxi – the food was also good, but not a patch on Tracy’s cooking! The cakes especially were out of this world!
The chalet itself is beautiful – high end luxury! I think my 10 year old nephew said it best when we arrived “This is the life!” The decor was functional, extremely comfortable and aesthetically beautiful.
The resort is picturesque and from the chalet there are beautiful views out on to the slopes on the opposite side of town. The chalet is built into the side of the hill and has large windows from the kitchen and living room (both with balconies) that overlook the town, the bedrooms beneath also open out to the same views of the town and a large deck with furniture and a private hot tub! Relaxing in the hot tub with a wine and those views is the perfect end to a day!
The chalet is the perfect place to watch the weekly fireworks show next to the Pleney lifts.
Every day Jude would take us to the slopes (Pleney/Avoriaz/wherever we wanted to be dropped) and would arrange to pick us up later in the day, both Tracy and Jude again were most accommodating in this respect and went above and beyond when two of our party (myself included) had accidents on the slopes. For this we cannot thank them enough!
The chalet comes with full entertainment – televisions with sky TV and a Sonos system so you could relax in comfort after a day skiing in fronts of the log burner.
Again I cannot recommend Chalet Cache highly enough. Our entire party were in agreement that the chalet, and the experience of staying there provided by the hosts Tracy and Jude was unparalleled in our experience! Will definitely be looking to stay there again.
Thank you Tracy and Jude for this wonderful experience and all the care you showed us while we stayed at your chalet!
